Let’s be real for a second…
When something goes wrong with your website or email, the first question is usually: “Who do I even call for this?” Is it us? Your hosting provider? That IT guy with the mysterious toolbelt?
We get it, the tech world can be a confusing jungle of jargon and finger-pointing. That’s why we’ve created this blog (and a handy little visual) to explain exactly who does what – so you know where to turn, and what to expect.
Why This Matters
When emails don’t send, your website vanishes into the void, or Outlook has a meltdown (again 🙄), it helps to know who’s responsible for fixing what. It saves time, avoids frustration, and keeps you from wanting to throw your laptop into the sea.
🔍 Let’s Break It Down
Here are the three main players in your digital world:
1. Cloudscape Creative – That’s Us!
We’re your digital wingwoman. The ones who build beautiful websites, keep your brand looking slick, and make sure everything runs smoothly online.
What we do:
- Design and develop your website
- Keep it updated, optimised, and working beautifully
- Help with SEO, content updates, and small web tweaks
- Register and renew domains (if we manage it for you)
- Talk tech with your host or IT guy so you don’t have to
What we don’t do:
- Set up your email on your iPhone
- Fix Outlook when it throws a tantrum
- Solve device or Wi-Fi issues
🌐 2. Hosting Provider – e.g. Eco Web Hosting, Xneelo, Afrihost, etc.
Think of them as the landlord. They own the server where your website and emails “live.”
What they do:
- Store and serve up your website + emails
- Keep your website online and (hopefully) fast
- Manage spam filters, backups, and uptime
- Handle DNS and MX records (technical terms that matter)
What they don’t do:
- Update your website or upload new blogs
- Deal with your clients or team directly
- Fix email issues on your laptop or phone
🧑💻 3. Your IT Support Team – e.g. Superior Support / Imply IT
These are the behind-the-scenes tech heroes who deal with the really annoying stuff.
What they do:
- Set up email accounts on your devices
- Help when passwords won’t work or things won’t sync
- Tame Outlook, Gmail, and whatever else you throw at them
- Sort out printers, networks, and everyday tech headaches
What they don’t do:
- Build websites
- Update your blog
- Host your site
Need a Visual?
We made you a nifty little diagram that shows who’s connected to what — like a digital spiderweb, minus the creepy crawlies.

So What Should You Do?
If you’ve got an IT provider already — great!
If not, we strongly recommend having one. Trust us, your future self will thank you when your inbox goes rogue and someone fixes it without sending you into a Google rabbit hole.
We work with two awesome teams we trust and you are welcome to mention Cloudscape when you make contact so they have context:
- Imply IT –
- 031 5711501
- Contact: Lee, Ricardo or Clayton

- Superior Support –
- 021 8220288
- Contact: Chris or Bryon

Need help getting set up? We’ve got you.
💬 Final Thoughts
You don’t need to understand every tech term (that’s what we’re here for), but knowing who’s responsible for what can seriously reduce stress when things get bumpy.
We’re always here for your marketing and website needs — but for anything email or device-related, having a solid IT partner makes all the difference.
